Octoanuts Birthday Party

For my son's 4th Birthday he decided he wanted an Octonaut birthday party.  We had so much fun making all the decorations for this party.  Most of the ideas came from Pinterest or my husband's crazy thinking :) Pin the Eye Patch on Kwazii Homemade Octonaut Hats Applesauce Kelp Cakes My husband created wooden cutouts for photos,  we decoupaged images on we printed from the website.  Our local Gerritys grocery store made a Octopod Cupcake Cake from a design I created.  We added gummy sharks and M&Ms for more details.  My husband made a Jello Snotblob because my son is obsessed with the Christmas Octonaut episode.

BLEACH Tye-Dye Shirts

My husband loves to try new ideas to make shirts. He was at Wal-Mart and saw this plain purple shirt and got the idea to bleach it to try and make a Tye-dye shirt. He knew that purple bleaches pink and took a chance that it would come out looking good.  All he did was wrap the shirt and spray it with some bleach. He rinsed it, let it dry and then ironed on a dark iron on transfer he printed on our printer. I think it came out so great and such a simple, creative design.   Back View    Close Up

Bleach Shirts

My son is obsessed with the show Octonauts but you can't find the anything to buy in the store because its based in  the UK. My husband got the great idea to make him a shirt using a bleach technique. He printed out the picture he wanted using freezer paper. Cut it out the image so that it was revered and the image was the only part of the shirt showing.  He then ironed it onto the shirt. Using bleach in a spray bottle he sprayed the image. Once you remove the freezer paper, you can see that the areas you bleached are a different color then the rest of the shirt. Step 1: Print our image you want Step 2: Cut out the image, leaving the outline Step 3: Iron on to shirt Step 4: Using bleach in a spray bottle, spray the area of the shirt showing, inside the outline Step 5: Peel of freezer paper Step 6: Rinse and let dry  It came out great!   Close up of the image

Finding Nemo Handprint Painting

Finding Nemo Handprint Craft We wanted to make a personalized painting for our new Finding Nemo bathroom. I looked on Pinterest and found a couple very cute hand print crafts as inspiration. I had my son paint the background, the coral is his finger painted different colors.      I painted his hand orange and white stripes, for Nemo I kept his finger a little more together. We used blue mixed with white for the jellyfish.     I outlined the jellyfish so you could see it better. The eyes are fingerprints.

DIY Bobba Fett Sweater

DIY Bobba Fett Sweater My husband wanted to make a sweater for our local baseball team's STAR WARS NIGHT since it was going to be freezing. Of course he decide it the afternoon of the game.  This was a speed project, took about 1 hour total.  1. He printed the images using a dark iron on transfer.  2. We cut our pieces of flannel for the chest plates.  He used a template he found on the internet.   3. I pinned and sewed the fabric in place. I used a rough zig zag stitch since Bobba Fett is known for being damaged and rough, I didn't want it too look to neat and clean.  4. The final step my husband ironed on the images. Star Wars Racetrack

We got our son the collection of Star Wars Cars diecast cars from Disney World for  May the 4th Be With You Day. We knew he would need track so my husband find a Cars racetrack on sale and decided to make it Star Wars themed. We replaced the cur out pictures with printouts of Hoth and laminated them do they would be more sturdy. It came out so good,  I can't wait to see his face in the morning.  Original Track   New Star Wars Track
