Finding Nemo Bathroom

Ever since my husband and I bought our house we have always wanted a Finding Nemo bathroom. We finally decided to start working on it over the Easter holiday. It took us about 4 days and $200 to paint the walls, redo the floor, and decorate.

The main reason we wanted to redo our bathroom was our awful bathroom floor. It was mismatched and peeling back in some places.

Since we didn't have enough money/skills to redo the whole floor we decided to paint over the exiting vinyl tiles. We found floor/porch paint at Lowes and got a color that would mimic the color of sand. I primed it first with one coat of white primer and then 2 coats of the floor paint. We also replaced our molding around the bottom with a  matching color. I still want to do another coat since some areas still need more coverage. We are thinking of using a sponge to get more texture. I still think it looks great for how little we put into it.

We had painted our bathroom with some mistake paint we got for $5 a gallon at home depot when we first bought our house (it originally had bamboo wallpaper that we had to get rid of). That paint almost instantly started peeling. I then got the idea to try an ombre technique I saw on Pinterest. This was the result. I used two tester paint samples from Lowes. Painted the lower section the darker blue, the top the lighter blue, and the middle a combination of the 2. It looks so much better in pictures but it just didn't look right so I just choose my favorite of the 2 to paint the rest of the bathroom.

I found these very cute 3D Nemo pictures at a consignment store several years ago for $5

I found the Finding Nemo decals on Amazon, I got 2 sets.  I decoupage them with some outdoor Mod Podge since we have textured walls so they would stick. Make sure to get outdoor since the other types will peel off it they get wet.

I found the anchor hooks at Target.

I printed out pictures from the show Octonauts that my son is obsessed with and decoupage with some outdoor Mod Podge. Its his favorite part of the whole bathroom.

I found this super cute rug at Target, I got the rest of the rugs to match the colors in it.

Bleach Shirts

My son is obsessed with the show Octonauts but you can't find the anything to buy in the store because its based in  the UK. My husband got the great idea to make him a shirt using a bleach technique. He printed out the picture he wanted using freezer paper. Cut it out the image so that it was revered and the image was the only part of the shirt showing.  He then ironed it onto the shirt. Using bleach in a spray bottle he sprayed the image. Once you remove the freezer paper, you can see that the areas you bleached are a different color then the rest of the shirt. Step 1: Print our image you want Step 2: Cut out the image, leaving the outline Step 3: Iron on to shirt Step 4: Using bleach in a spray bottle, spray the area of the shirt showing, inside the outline Step 5: Peel of freezer paper Step 6: Rinse and let dry  It came out great!   Close up of the image
